COLLECTING MOONLIGHT

Launched on December 13, 2020, Collecting Moonlight is a project aiming to share a glimpse of what happens behind the backyard astronomy sessions of a budding space fanatic.

This interest stemmed from attempting to survive the dreaded astrobiology chapter in one of my science classes back in 2014 and eventually grew into an endeavour that is more personal and spiritual. What started as a simple theoretical review of a pile of science books about the vast life in space turned out to be my first step towards what seemingly is a lifetime of cosmic exploration and appreciation.

Visiting this page will expose you to visual outputs from observational astronomy camping ranging from basic gazing at the stars to skillful attempts of hunting for particular night objects for deep-sky astrophotography. In most of these sessions, the main tool in use is a Svbony refractor telescope seeing through a K20mm eyepiece.

You are welcome here whether your goal for checking in is scientific or subjective because ultimately, what matters is that you experience even just a fraction of fun I consistently have in this hobby. As NASA cleverly says, “there is space for everybody here.”

So if you are someone who is into watching the sky with your unaided eyes during a night walk, (not advisable but maybe) on a bike ride, or while quietly sitting on a park bench, come join me in collecting moonlight from the space through my telescope down to your screen.

Clear skies!
